Verify Request: A person wishing to remain anonymous asked: Who demanded candidate Joell Prado’s campaign signs to be removed?
Through an Open Records Act request to Wallis City Clerk, we were provided the following information: Council member Melissa McFarland came into city hall and stated that she had citizens complaining about campaign signs belonging to Joell Prado. She stated that the signs were not in compliance due to the fact that her signs do not have the Disclosure Statement printed on them, they did not have the word “for” on them and they did not have the Right-Of-Way notice on them. She said if they are not picked up the citizens was going to file a complaint with the Ethics Commission and the city did not need that kind of publicity.
She ask me if I was going to have public works pick them up, I stated to her that I will not ask them to pick them up, but I will call Mrs. Prado and let her know of the complaint.
